My experience working with Kristina to sell my condo in the Pearl was probably somewhat unique, in that the two of us never met. I moved away from Portland well over three years ago and am now living in Thailand. In reviewing her credentials online, I was impressed by how much she has accomplished in her professional career. But beyond that, and equally important, I was also interested to learn of her broader background: Portland native, committed to sustainability, degree from the University of Oregon's School of Architecture and Allied Arts, the fact that she's also the owner and founder of an online fine arts gallery, and so on. I was impressed, too, by her involvement in such organizations as the Humane Society, Audubon Society, Portland Art Museum, and others, giving me the sense that Kristina likely shared many of the same values I do. 

Turning over the sale of one's property to a stranger who is thousands of miles away would seem to have the serious potential of being a nervous-making arrangement, but everything went smoothly with Kristina, whose guidance and suggestions were always supported by factual information on the state of the market, sales histories, and the like. She was diligent in taking care of many small details that needed attending to and in seeing the entire process through in a thoroughly professional manner. I would highly recommend choosing her as your agent—even if you should happen to live in Thailand!

When I decided to sell my Edge Lofts condo, I wanted to find the right agent, someone with high integrity and a good sales record with condos in he area. Kristina Opsahl is an extremely competent and motivated real estate broker.  In her dealings with clients and other agents, she displays a level of maturity that far exceeds her relatively few years of experience in the industry.  I have found another of Kristina's best traits to be her patience in helping clients (buyers and sellers alike)to achieve exactly what they are looking for in the market and to do so on their own terms.  She also has an uncanny number of connections in the Portland area, which seem to bring a large number of options to the table.  I would highly recommend Kristina's services to anyone in the market to buy or sell a home, especially on the West side of Portland.

 

I have been working with Kristina for a little less than a year.  I have been an extremely picky home shopper and used two other agents prior to finding Kristina.  I have been incredibly impressed with Kristina during the time that I have spent working with her.  This past summer, I made an offer on a house that was accepted.  Kristina ran comps and made some phone calls to see if she could find out anything about the sellers.  She found out that the home was owned by a dental student and his wife and that they had to sell it quickly. She then negotiated a price that was $30,000 under the asking price, which was unheard of at the time.  Kristina insisted that I have a full housing inspection and sewer scope prior to the closing.  I am not sure that I would have done so otherwise.  The inspections turned up a plethora of problems including damaged asbestos in the furnace and a ruptured sewer line.  My decision of whether to buy the house or not was made difficult by the fact that there was another "as is" offer that was submitted after mine.  I sat down with Kristina and she ran the numbers for me.  In the end she convinced me to walk away from the house.  Kristina may have lost a commission, but she earned my absolute trust and respect.

It is readily apparent to anyone that meets Kristina that she is professional, well dressed and on time.  She has met me on Saturdays at 7:30 in the morning and on Fridays after work.  She is always energetic and in a good mood, even when I am not.  I think the fact that she grew up, and knows everyone, in the west hills gives her a tremendous advantage over other agents.  I can't imagine using anyone else.  Recently my 87 year old grandmother announced that she wanted to purchase a condo in NW Portland.  Kristina is now helping her find one.  What would normally be a high stress situation for my family is not.  We know that Kristina is ethical and will find her a good deal.  I can think of no higher praise. I would recommend her without reservation.
